In light of the worldwide importance and acceptance of the English language, it is necessary for a learner of English as a second language to acquire strong communication skills. Therefore, it is a challenge for an English language teacher to help students learn to communicate in English within the confines of the classroom. In a second language classroom, where the focus is on verbal communication, the success lies in taking the lessons beyond the classroom and into the real world. But that’s way easier said than done. Recently, I have been working on a program aimed at helping students put their English communication skills into practice while establishing partnership and cross-promotion with local businesses.
